Designing a Visual Identity and Website Rooted in the Amazon Rainforest
In 2025, the world’s largest youth-led energy summit will take place in Manaus, Brazil. I led the branding and digital design of the event, creating a visual identity and website that honors the Amazon’s biodiversity while empowering 500+ global youth leaders.
Each Student Energy Summit has a unique visual identity that reflects the host location’s cultural and environmental richness. For SES 2025, set in the heart of the Amazon, I designed a logo inspired by the macaw — a native bird symbolizing resilience, community, and flight.
While grounded in Student Energy’s visual system, this year’s identity also breaks new ground. I proposed and implemented custom colour swatches — including deep green and earth brown — to reflect the biodiversity of the Amazon and subtly echo Brazil’s national identity. These choices helped visually root the summit in place and expand the emotional resonance of the design.
The final logo blends organic symbolism with geometric clarity, setting the tone for a summit that’s deeply local and globally impactful.
I built the SES 2025 website using WordPress and Elementor. The homepage invites users into the Amazon through layered visuals and storytelling — complete with a countdown to the event, accessible navigation, and interactive sections that will evolve as the summit approaches.
The UX was designed around clarity, accessibility, and excitement. I collaborated with the team to develop a navigation map, SEO structure, and content clusters that will grow with the summit.
To ensure long-term usability, I conducted several training sessions with the organizing team, teaching them how to maintain the site, create new pages, update the blog, and manage team bios. These sessions were designed to empower non-technical users and support knowledge-sharing throughout the summit lifecycle.
In the heart of the Amazon Rainforest, SES 2025 will gather 500 youth leaders from around the globe to explore clean energy, climate solutions, and community empowerment. The event aims to centre Indigenous knowledge, highlight the intersection of energy and biodiversity, and cultivate local-global collaborations to drive a just energy transition.
This branding project was more than a design challenge — it was a responsibility. To reflect the spirit of the Amazon and honour the summit’s deep purpose through visual language and digital experience.
